Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Revyou. Can't find your answer? Send us feedback.
General
Revyou is your personal gaming journal. It lets you log every game you play, rate them, write reviews, organize collections called Lists, and share your gaming journey with friends. Think of it as a diary for your entire gaming life.
Yes, Revyou is completely free to use. All core features — logging games, writing reviews, creating Lists, following friends — are available at no cost.
Revyou uses the IGDB database, which covers virtually every gaming platform: PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, mobile, retro consoles, and more. If a game exists in IGDB, you can log it here.
Account & Profile
Revyou supports three ways to sign in: Email & Password (traditional registration), Google (one tap on web and mobile), and Apple (available on web and iOS/Android).
Yes. Request a password reset using the same email registered with Google/Apple. After creating a password, you can log in with either method.
Go to your profile page and click the edit button. You can set a display name, write a bio, upload an avatar, and link your gaming accounts (Steam, PSN, Xbox, Discord).
Yes. Go to Edit Profile and update your username from there. Usernames must be unique and follow the platform naming rules.
On your profile page, click your avatar area. You can upload an image and crop it to fit. Supported formats include JPG, PNG, and WebP.
Revyou has a social follow system. When you follow someone, their activity appears in your personal feed. Your follower count shows how many people follow you back.
Your Revyou account is tied to your provider's unique ID, not your email address. Changing your email on Google or Apple will not affect your Revyou account.
On your profile, open Edit profile, go to the Danger zone and click Delete my account. You will need to type DELETE to confirm. Deletion is permanent and removes your profile, library, reviews, comments, likes, followers/following, lists, activities, and notifications.
Games & Library
Click the "+ Add Game" button in the sidebar, or use the search bar. Search for the game, select it, and it will be added to your library. You can immediately rate it or set a status.
Playing: currently playing. Backlog: plan to play. Completed: finished the main story. Liked: especially enjoyed. Mastered: fully completed (100%, platinum). Wishlist: want to play. Dropped: stopped playing.
You can rate any game on a numeric scale. Your rating is personal and visible on your profile and in your reviews. The community average rating is displayed on each game's detail page.
All game metadata (titles, covers, release dates, genres, platforms, developers) comes from IGDB (Internet Game Database), maintained by Twitch/Amazon. We sync regularly to keep information up to date.
Try the full official title or alternative names. Check IGDB directly at igdb.com — if the game doesn't exist there, you can submit it. Once approved on IGDB, it will appear on Revyou after the next sync.
Revyou syncs with IGDB regularly. Newly released games and updates are picked up during these syncs. There may be a short delay between a game appearing on IGDB and being searchable here.
Major expansions (like Blood and Wine, Phantom Liberty) can be logged as separate entries. Smaller DLC packs and cosmetic bundles are recommended to be logged under the base game to keep your library clean.
Custom covers let you replace the default game cover art with your own image. Go to any game in your library, open its details, and upload a custom cover. This is purely cosmetic and only affects how the game appears in your library.
On your profile page, you can pin up to 5 favorite games that are displayed prominently at the top of your profile. Go to Edit Profile to select and reorder your favorites.
Reviews
Yes. You don't need to complete a game to review it. If you've played enough to form an opinion, your perspective is valid and welcome. Many users find "in-progress" or "dropped" reviews especially helpful.
Yes, but please use the spoiler tag. When you mark a review as containing spoilers, its content is hidden behind a warning. Other users must actively choose to reveal the text.
Yes. Go to the game's detail page or your reviews list, find your review, and click edit. Your updated review will replace the original.
Any logged-in user can like your review and leave comments. You receive a notification when someone interacts with your review. You can delete comments on your own reviews.
Lists
A List is a custom collection of games. You can use Lists to organize games by theme, genre, ranking, or any criteria. Examples: "Best RPGs of All Time", "Games to Play in 2025", "Couch Co-op Picks".
Standard: a simple collection with no particular order. Ranked: an ordered list where position matters (great for Top 10 lists). Checklist: a to-do style list where you check off games as you play them.
Each List can contain up to 100 games.
Yes. When creating or editing a List, you can toggle its visibility between Public and Private. Private Lists are only visible to you.
On any List's detail page you have three options: Copy Link (copies the URL), Share to Feed (posts it as an activity for followers), and Generate Image (creates a shareable image for social media).
Import & Export
Yes. You can export your entire collection as a CSV file at any time, with no limits on frequency. This includes your games, ratings, statuses, playtime, platform metadata, and review fields (review_content, review_spoiler, review_created_at).
Yes. Revyou supports bulk importing games via CSV. In addition to game data, you can also import review_content, review_spoiler, and review_created_at to create reviews in the same process. Review imports made via upload do not generate activity feed entries.
Yes: up to 5 imports per month, 500 games per import, and a 2 MB max file size. The monthly quota resets on the 1st of each month (UTC).
Games are matched by slug. If a slug is not found in the catalog, that row fails. Duplicate game_slug values within the same CSV also fail. Games that already exist in your library are counted as skipped.
Steam Integration
No. The Steam profile link on your profile is just a social link for visitors. Steam Sync is a separate feature that imports your game library. You can use one without the other.
You provide your Steam ID 64 in the integrations section. Revyou connects to the Steam API, reads your public game library, matches games against IGDB, and adds them to your library with playtime data. After the initial sync, it auto-syncs once per day.
Steam Sync imports which games you own, total playtime per game, recent playtime updates, and achievements. It does not import screenshots or wishlisted games.
No. Steam Sync only adds games you don't already have and updates playtime. Your personal data — ratings, reviews, statuses, List assignments — is never overwritten.
Yes. Remove your Steam ID from the integrations page. Previously synced games remain in your library, but no future syncs will occur.
PSN Integration
You provide your PSN ID in the integrations section. Revyou connects to the PlayStation Network API, reads your public trophy list and game library, and adds matched games to your collection. After the initial sync, it auto-syncs once per day.
PSN Sync imports your game library, trophy progress (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum), and platinum completion status. Your PSN profile and trophy list must be set to public.
No. PSN Sync only adds games you don't already have. Your personal data — ratings, reviews, statuses — is never overwritten.
Yes. Go to the PSN integration page and click Disconnect. Previously synced games remain in your library, but no future syncs will occur.
Yes. Your PSN profile and trophy list must be set to public for the sync to work. If your profile is private, Revyou cannot access your game and trophy data.
PSN games are matched to our catalog by title. Some games may not match due to regional title differences or missing entries in IGDB. You can add unmatched games manually using the search feature.
Xbox Integration
You provide your Xbox Gamertag in the integrations section. Revyou connects to the Xbox API, reads your public game library and achievement data, and adds matched games to your collection. After the initial sync, it auto-syncs once per day.
Xbox Sync imports your game library and achievement progress. Your Xbox profile and game history must be set to public for syncing to work.
No. Xbox Sync only adds games you don't already have. Your personal data — ratings, reviews, statuses — is never overwritten.
Yes. Go to the Xbox integration page and click Disconnect. Previously synced games remain in your library, but no future syncs will occur.
Xbox syncs up to 1,000 titles at a time, prioritizing the most recently played. If you have a larger library, some older titles may not be included. You can add missing games manually, or sync again later — as you play different games, new titles will be picked up over time.
Achievements & Trophies
Achievements aggregate your trophies and achievements from connected platforms (Steam, PSN, Xbox) into a single view. You can see your overall progress, completion rates, and individual game achievements all in one place.
Achievements are synced automatically when you connect a platform (Steam, PSN, or Xbox) in the Integrations section. After the initial sync, achievements update daily alongside your game library.
Currently, Revyou supports achievements from Steam (achievements), PlayStation (trophies including Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum), and Xbox (achievements). Each platform's data is displayed with its native terminology.
A game is marked as 100% Completed when you have unlocked every achievement or trophy available for that game. This is tracked per platform — if you have the same game on multiple platforms, each is tracked separately.
Platinums are a PlayStation-specific trophy awarded for earning all other trophies in a game. Your Platinum count is displayed on your achievements page as a badge of dedication.
Achievements sync automatically once per day for each connected platform. If you want to see your latest progress sooner, you can trigger a manual re-sync from the Integrations page.
Social & Feed
Discover
Discover is where you explore what the Revyou community is playing and reviewing. It includes Popular Reviews, Latest Reviews, Most Anticipated games, and a public game browser.
Popular Reviews are ranked by a combination of likes, comments, and views. The more engagement a review receives, the higher it appears in the Popular Reviews section.
Most Anticipated shows upcoming games that have the most wishlists and interest from the Revyou community. It's a great way to discover games that other players are looking forward to.
Mobile & Multi-Device
Revyou, Revyou's companion mobile app for iOS and Android, is coming soon. It will share the same account and data as the web version. In the meantime, the website is fully responsive on mobile browsers.
Yes. You can be logged in on the web and the mobile app simultaneously. All changes sync in real time. Logging out on one device only ends the session on that device.
Account Security
Check your spam/junk folder first. Password reset emails are the only emails Revyou sends. If you still don't see it, make sure you're using the exact email address associated with your account.
Currently, email changes are not self-service. Reach out through the Feedback page and we'll help you update it.
